Contestant of the Week for January 16-20, 2023

Preston Leslie from Wheel of Fortune is your Contestant of the Week, not only dominating in the maingame, but…

…BECOMING THE FIRST $100,000 WINNER THIS SEASON AND THE FIRST $100,000 WINNER SINCE MAY 26, 2022 ENDING A SEASONAL FRUSTRATION OF NON-STOP $40K WINS, TWO $100K LOSSES AND A $1M LOSS!!!!

Honorable mentions:

-Isaac, John and Allison together won $140K in a team effort on The Chase.

-David Brachman won a Tesla Model Y worth $78,536 on the otherwise not-so-bright TPiR At Night Geniuses special in the showcase redeeming from his Take Two loss totaling $82,900 in prizes.

-Shane averted a potential car game gooseegg for the month of January 2023 on LMaD.

-David & Jessa swept this week of 25 Words or Less and will go into the weekend w/ $31,250 cash + 5 prizes (approx. $40K+ altogether).

-Brendan Hunt convincingly dominated this week’s Celeb J! episode for the final spot in the third semifinals.

Jordan Ellenberg from the not-so-genius special is your Zonk Contestant of the Week. He had to sort any of these following items in his playing of Pay The Rent (one of two games this week to be played twice; other was Cover Up):

Smart Balance chunky peanut & flaxseed oil spread (16oz), Smartfood Popcorn (6.75oz), 6 Breyers Carb Smart vanilla bars, 45 Smart Pants gummies, Nerds (5oz) & Smart Mouth breath rinse (16 fl oz).

He put the Nerds in the $1K slot, and it cost… $1.89. In the $5K slot he had the popcorn and the spread, and together they cost… $12.48. Next up in the $10K slot are the vanilla ice cream bars and the mouthwash which summed up to… a whopping $19.48. Now, you would hope w/ such an expensive price at this level that Jordan would take it and leave it w/ the $10K…guess again, because he FOOLISHLY GOES ALL OUT w/ the vitamins in the $100K slot, and that was worth… NOT ENOUGH w/ $16.99, so he leaves emptyhanded (not including IUFB item, of course) — not very smart playing AT ALL, sir. -___- And that will definitely end up on my WORST MOMENTS of Season 51 of TPiR.

Dishonorable mentions:

-Andrea Donnellan’s brutal playing of Switcheroo during said special.

-Even though David & Jessa survived the entire week,  they were also SKUNKED on the MR this week for our third skunking in this category this season.

-We had our second BD SKUNKING this season and the BD was knocked out right off the bat twice this week (and also a $30K+ BD loss). There was also a FLAMEOUT on Thursday.

-Alex Wang went deep into the red on J! w/ a score of -$2K before FJ!.

-We suffered a TECHNICAL EL SKUNKO on Wednesdays TPiR episode w/ a partial in Master Key preventing an outright one (last occurrence of that was in 2010). And it also triggered a SEASON-LOW in total winnings ($20,826).

-Monica Carmouche became this season’s new lowest showcase winner w/ $26,348.

-Roxanne Argana’s brutal playing of Eazy as 1-2-3.

-Randy Singer on Tuesday’s Wheel struggled mightily in the opening Toss-Ups (falling for the CENTRAL trap for CONTROL TOWER) and then played too conservatively in the first two main rounds leaving behind too many multiples.

-Dylan Bennett (as “Jimmy Ruska”) and Kenneth Perkins are up to their goddamn tricks again declaring a technical win on Tuesday’s $50K loss and making false Double Over announcements, and the two of them really deserve a slap in the face. 😡

-On the opening $2K Toss-Up on Wednesday’s Wheel episode…

H _ M I _ G
_ I _ _ O _ S

Stan Brown foolishly thinks it’s HUMMINGBIRDS which is one word — absolutely not, sir. -__- Needless to say, this was a bad week for toss-ups (no TS’s, though). Also, Tricia Scaglione got OTION stuck in her head on her guesses for the BR not counting the O’s carefully and she wasn’t POISED FOR ACTION w/ $40K.

-Yung-Mei asked for trouble picking THING on Friday’s Wheel episode and ended the weekly winning streak to start 2023 (but still 10-5 so far for this new year). We also had this during S-U…
