WoF Quickcap: 11/21/2022

WOF_40

This week’s theme: 🏫College Week🏫

First trio of students left to right looking to make the grade, and to them we say “YOU’VE GOT THIS!”
Andrea Vetro (UNLV), a junior studying graphic design who’s part of an internship where she’s learning more about her subject and wanted to pursue a job in that field and maybe work for a magazine company (she’s also a gamer) from Las Vegas
Chris Langley (LSU), a senior majoring in mass communication (his branch being broadcast journalism) and minoring in English who wanted to be a reporter, producer, or photographer and has been doing creative writing since his senior year in high school (he’s released 12 short stories and 3 multi-part series to the Internet) from Gretna, LA
Lauren McCartney (Georgia State Univ.), a senior studying film and media w/ a minor in acting who’s part of the black student achievement program and theater program (she’s also the valedictorian at her high school) from Glen Carbon, IL

Final Scores: Andrea: $4K/Chris: $19,550 cash & Belize/Lauren: $3K

GT: just $26,550
Tonight’s Bankrupt Trash: $5,700 cash & GC

Scary moments

-In the opening toss-up…

_ _ _ ‘ _ E / G O T
T _ _ _ !

Lauren is too short w/I‘VE GOT THIS” — I know these are college students and you shouldn’t expect much from these weeks, but I knew already right there that we would be in for a slogfest of a night.

-In R1, Andrea attempts to solve…

_ _ R O L L I N G
A N D / _ _ R O L L I N G
A N D / _ _ R O L L I N G

She doesn’t count her N’s carefully and blows the $6,150 solve w/ ENROLLING AND ENROLLING AND ENROLLING — I know this was an easy trap to fall for given this week’s theme and it’s a fairly tricky puzzle and she probably needed the S’s and/or C’s, but yikes.

-It’s debatable whether or not Chris should’ve flipped the MW for what he had to risk, although that ended up not mattering as he painfully BANKRUPTs near TD shortly after to throw away $5,300 cash & GC, so we got a $0 puzzle win as a result and we were just $500 over the minimum to this point assuming both opening toss-ups were solved.

BR categories: PLACES/THING/PHRASE

Sigh, again?

Another MINI 2dr. hardtop is in play (this time a ’23 in red w/ black stripes)

$100K Bonus Round: BE QUICK ABOUT IT and solve, ChrisYou didn’t, so you lose $40K and you’re also late to class (all those QU- trap puzzles are getting out of hand… -__-).
