Contestant of the Week for June 20-24, 2022

10 yr. old Liya, the 8th winner of Masterchef Junior, is your Contestant of the Week, with spiced duck breast w/ scallion pancakes & miso eggplant for an entrée, and coconut pandan panna cotta w/ passion fruit coulis & sesame tuille for dessert in the season finale.

Honorable mentions:

-Steve Harvey and Kelly Clarkson for their wins for Best Game Show Emmy (Harvey) and Best Talk Show, Talk Show Host and Lighting Direction (Clarkson, respectively).

-Jeopardy! also unsurprisingly won Best Game Show.

-Megan Wachspress picked up a spot in the ToC roster through FJ! wagering strategy and luck.

The majority of this week’s contestants (save for Joe Feldmann from Friday’s decent episode) on Jeopardy! are your Zonk Contestants of the Week due to an all-around poor week for this show. Not to knock Megan’s wagering strategy, but on Monday she made the wrong kind of history — Not only was her winning score of $401 the lowest of the season, she broke Donald Burgo’s record from April 1986 for lowest 5-day score in the history of this version of the show (Burgo won $26,180 when the dollar values were half of what they are today; that translates to $52,360 — $358 more than what Megan has won.). Didn’t help that she followed that the next day w/ another low-scoring win of $8,601 after coming into FJ! in last place (Pre-FJ! Scores: Rob: $16,500/Jenny: $12,200/Megan: $8,400) which resulted in her third $2 margin win. Her luck would finally run out midweek in an episode that saw us get SKUNKED on Daily Doubles for the eleventh time in regular play this season and fourteenth overall. An easy FJ! clue also ended up being a triple stumper on Thursday, and now our 3-for-3 FJ!-sweep drought has hit a dubious 55 episodes (previous record for regular play was 41 from 2/26-5/20/2020.).

Dishonorable mentions:

-Accelerator suffered yet another TOTAL TRAINWRECK playing in the only LMaD episode this week.

-WHEEL was shut out in winning any Emmys this year, pretty much due to the controversies Pat has caused. I think he should retire soon.
