This week’s theme: Generic #12

LET’S KICK THINGS OFF w/ these three
Shelby Oktavec, a communications student at L.A. Valley College whose mom & aunt played on Family Week
Ronnell Wilson-Nichols, an RNA of 30 yrs. married to Rodney from Compton
Jordan Burger, a music booking agent married to senior nurse adviser Kate from Franklin, TN

Final Scores: Shelby: $27K/Ronnell: $3,200/Jordan: $16,190 cash & Barbados

GT: $46,390
Tonight’s Bankrupt Trash: $600

Scary moments

-The layout for most of the R1 puzzle…

S _ E L L _ I N _ I N G
T E L E V I S I O N
S E R I E S

Shelby BOMBS OUT w/ M on Savannah and blows $9,650 — If you were thinking SMELLFINDING that’s VERY gross, girl! -___-

-After calling P on this puzzle Ronnell does no better w/ K — SPELLKINDING?!

-Way too many penalties in R2 incl. an incorrect letter on the million dollar wedge (it didn’t help that the puzzle itself was 12 letters long w/ no RSTLNE).

-Here’s what we got in R3…

S _ O _ _ I N G / F O R
A / _ A T _ I N G / S _ I T

Ronnell BLOWS IT BIG TIME w/ L to throw away $8,650 + the Barbados PP trip — Where’d you think that’d go, lady?!?! 😡 We got a $0 prize puzzle win as a result.

BR Car of the Week: Winnebago Solis (on RAM ProMaster chassis) ($112+; it is shown on the set this time)

$100K Bonus Round: This solution’s not BEYOND MY GRASPnor Shelby’s, so we forgive her for her epic R1 blunder as she takes the $39K and our losing streak is finally over!

Shelby’s Final Total: $66K

New GT: $85,390

They talk about Winnebago Industries at the end and announced that Eddie & Joyce Hightower of AR won the Solis in last year’s giveaway. They donated their RV to charity before being announced that they had won.

Let's Make a Deal logo

Got most of this info from Byron Smith. Watched on cbs.com for the Big Deal results (I DO NOT recommend doing this on mobile… if you leave the page it resumes the episode from the latest point even if you have paused & rewinded it, not to mention you will have to sit through an unnecessary two minute commercial break if you accidentally slip into the next clip. Much easier on PC).

WoF Fantasy Recap: 2/26/2022

The Hawaii week on the actual show was quite dismal. Let’s see if my fantasy birthday episode about Wheel Around The World was any better…

Today’s contestants are Farah, Sarah and Faith.

Final Scores
Farah: $14K cash & cruise/Sarah: $10,200/Faith: $5K

GT: $29,200
Tonight’s Bankrupt Trash: None that I could remember

Scary Moments

Too many duds/penalties knocked those scores low; we were $150 above the minimum at the end of R2.

Faith left behind $17,796 cash & Collette tour of Egypt/Jordan in R3.

BR Cars: VW Golf GTI SE ($37,485); Volvo XC40 T5 AWD R-Design ($48,115)

BR Categories: PHRASE/PLACE/THING

$250K Bonous Round: Farah won’t be collecting another $35K from a BOBA SHOP.

So yeah. Not much better, unfortunately.

Contestant of the Week for February 21-25, 2022

Jaskaran Singh, as the Jeopardy! National College Champion, is your Contestant of the Week. He stood out as one of the likely favorites during a very ugly Quarterfinals round, came from behind & advanced w/ the highest Semifinal score of them all, proved dominant in Game 1 of the Finals and did his part & wagered well in Game 2, and took home the $250,000 grand prize.

Honorable mentions:

-This year’s return of Dream Car Week turned out to not be a good one, that is until Melissa Parrigo safely $1-bidded her way to play the final Dream Car game… Ten Chances for the feature Dream Car of the Week… a ’22 Audi E-Tron worth a whopping $123,950. She played her cards well and WON THE AUDI AS WELL AS THE SMALLER PRIZES TO TAKE THE SEASON 50 LEAD IN WINNINGS w/ $125,616!!! But wait, we’re not done yet — She also wins $1K from the Big Wheel and goes on to the showcase after winning the bonus spin-off (after a dud spin that turned out to have worked out for her even though she just barely missed out on landing on the dollar & winning the Alfa Romeo). Now did she win her showcase? YES! But it was the smaller one because she passed on the larger one containing another car because she was already happy w/ the Audi, all rounding out for a final total of $159,040 in prizes!!!!!

-We had four Bonus Round winners on 25 Words or Less this week. Now let’s try for a PBRW.

-As of ant0824’s writing Team Norway is up to a whopping 37 medals in the Winter Olympics

-Susie has snapped the very long Big Deal drought that has spanned over the majority of this month, although her reasoning in going for the Big Deal was a selfish one (It’s so she won’t have to share w/ her grandchildren — Some grandma you are, lady. -__- But it worked out).

-We started Dream Car Week w/ our sixth Car Winners’  showcase this season, and Felicia Hunt won w/ $72,107.

-I know this isn’t exactly a fit for this post, but Amy Schneider has gotten engaged!

Sigh…… okay. Let’s try to make this quick. Every Wheel contestant this week win or lose are your Zonk Contestants of the Week on what might have been one of, if not THE WORST week of the entire series, just two weeks after our awesome Bed & Breakfast week that saw three consecutive $100K wins. It’s not just the effects of the budget, it’s also the lack of competence of most of these contestants (maybe they took in those who would normally have been rejected and save the better ones for another week when the budget has stablized). One baffling misplay after another. Painful penalty spins. Cycles of penalty spins or duds/DQs. Some of which has gone viral and some VERY NOT SAFE FOR WHEEL. And even a technical goof by the crew. The worst of it occurred on Wednesday, and Thursday wasn’t far behind. Unsurprisingly (& deservingly), we had been SKUNKED for the first time all year long (third overall this season) and netted a NEW SEASON-LOW in winnings of $148,992 (lowest for a full week since the second AG week of 2018). A week like this could crack even the most dedicated & normally optimistic of Wheel fans, especially when the theme week was directly related to a vacation he went on back last November, and that is exactly what happened to Andynwof, forcing him to take time off to recover & Nickskapower will take reign there. Well, so much for being “quick”, but the sooner we can put this Hawaiian nightmare behind us, the better. But don’t get too excited over the next few weeks or maybe even the rest of the season as the budget recovers from B&B week and other things. I don’t think I even need to list too many dishonorable mentions this week as this pretty much covered it.

Only a couple of dishonorable mentions I can mention after this:

-Brutal playing of the luxury car game Triple Play.

-Same happened for Remember When.

-Those who have lost Dream Cars and caused Car Wipeouts this week.

-More Daily Double skunks and more FJ! Triple Stumpers.

-Team USA puts together a disappointing performance yet again in the Winter Olympics only gathering a lackluster 8 gold medals and outright dismal performances in skiing, hockey & more.
