Contestant of the Year 2021

Contestant(s) of the Year: Matt Amodio’s Great run winning $1.5 Million before being dethrone by Jonathan Fisher, Amy Schneider for her Continuing Winning Ways.

Honorable Mentions: Pay The Rent Huge Win, The Melgoza’s Great More or Less win

Zonk Contestant(s) of the Year: Tiffany and Michael from TPIR suffered a Wipeout in Triple Play and Golden Road respectively

Best Moments: Melissa Joan Hart, Million Dollar win on CWoF

Worst Moments: Double Overs in Showcase, Accelerator wipeout and a Heartbreaking Loss in Race to the Finish

Contestant of the Week for December 27-31, 2021

Amy Schneider is once again your Contestant of the Week, bringing her run into the New Year w/ $855,600 in fifth for all-time winnings & passing Julia Collins for most regular-play games won by a woman.

Honorable mentions:

-Frank Villalobos becomes the first $50K winner this season thanks to a perfect letter combo despite losing his WC to a BANKRUPT, and that was after he edged out André Harris by just $360.

-We had our fourth Car Winners’ showcase this season.

-We had a 3-way Bonus Spin-Off — Theresa went on to the showcase w/ $26K (& won it w/ a final total of $59,110 cash & prizes), Katherine won $11K & Debra was out w/ $1K.

-Melinda McIntosh redeemed from her PG loss and became this season’s third DSW winner, being the first contestant to do so to end the year since 2004.

-We broke a 14-week drought for non-winning weeks for Wheel (incl. Primetime) & had our first official winning week since premiere week.

-Blake Carelli & Sandra Payne had a nice $20K+ match w/ the latter coming out on top via PP Round win + a critical dud from Blake in R1.

-Rana Aryan dominated Friday’s NYE Wheel episode but it somehow didn’t translate to a BR win.

-Kanchi Batra won the maZDa MX-30 Premium Plus Package worth $38,650 (a better prize won after losing the MDW, and we will DEFINITELY forgive her for that MW gamble + one spin too many in R1).

I cannot make a decision for this week’s Zonk Contestant of the Week (that’s not why I haven’t updated this post over the weekend), so I will leave it open to interpretation w/ these mentions:

-In R1, André Harris called a FATAL DUD of L which would ultimately end up costing him the game by just $360.

-Lindsay Huber had horrible luck w/ the Wheel, and she WIPED OUT from EXPRESS.

-Chas Abdel-Nabi busted out of FJ!.

After the last vowel of U was purchased…

I T ‘ S / T O O
L A T E / T O
_ A _ _ / O U T

Ambre Kulas replied she feels so terrible that she should know it, but she went on…and said a CRITICAL DUD of D to throw away $5,650 cash & skincare — Well, there goes knowing it.

-Joanna Wu & to a greater extent Ben Walthall’s poor performances in an underwhelming midweek J! episode.

-In R1 of Wednesday’s WoF episode, Blake bought a CRITICAL DUD VOWEL of A and that cost him $5,150 & ultimately the game as it would turn out so in the end.

-Shannon Henderson came out as winner of her showcase w/ a dismal total of $26,158 cash & prizes.

-We ended the year with a FJ! triple stumper for the first time since 2017.

-For the first time since 2014 we ended the year w/ a gooseegg victim, which in this case is Sheena Brown after she, too, WIPED OUT from EXPRESS.
